Martial Arts
Register at Niles Park District for karate classes. Illinois Shotokan Karate Club is Chicagoland's premier school taught under the instruction of John DiPasquale, a four-time Natonal Champion and President of the American Shotokan Association.
Beginner students will not be permitted to register into the current session after the second class has met. Registration for continuers through advanced students will be accepted after the start date, but the full class fee is required. Uniform and belt testing are options available through the ISKC instructor. Please note that the Youth and Adult classes may train together.

YOUTH & ADULT KARATE (Boys & Girls Ages 7 & Up)
ISKC's Karate classes offer a good mix of strength training with cardiovascular and flexibility exercises. Students increase their coordination, agility and poise, as well as learn lasting personal safety skills. They also benefit from the mental stimulation of learning the choreographed moves of the kata and the discipline of conforming to the class rules. Class limit is 10. No class July 20.

Piano Lessons
Ages 5 & Up
Niles Park District offers private piano lessons. Children and adults with all levels of experience are welcome and no prior instruction in piano or music is required. Lessons will focus on the fundamentals of technique, music theory, and good practice habits. In addition, students may need to purchase their own instruction books and music. Refunds will not be granted for missed lessons.

Time: Lessons are 30 minutes
Lessons take place on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday or Saturday. Please call 847-967-6633 to register for lesson day and time.

Instructor, Vicky Ostwald: Vicky Ostwald has a degree in piano and also studied piano pedagogy at the graduate level. She has many years of playing and teaching experience. Vicky enjoys working with all levels and all kinds of students, especially children and also adults. If you have a special interest such as learning to play by ear, this can be incorporated into the lesson time.

Instructor, Tom Slater: Tom Slater has been playing and studying the piano for over 30 years. He studied music at Cleveland State University and has a background in classical, jazz and pop music. He is currently a multi-instrumentalist in several local bands and he has been featured on the WGN Morning News, WXRT and NPR. Tom's main goals are to help his students develop and maintain good practice habits, learn music theory and get the most enjoyment and fulfillment you can from playing music.

Instructor, Jeanne Hanline: Jeanne Hanline has studied music and given private piano lessons for over 35 years focusing on teaching children and adults to read music and enjoy the accomplishment of sitting down to play this amazing instrument. Teaching traditional methods of classical and popular music are the results she hopes to give to her students. She has played various venues for private affairs and church functions. Patience, practice and enjoyment are the main goals.

Fall Soccer League
Boys & Girls Grade Pre-K-8 (for the 2026-2027 school year)
The program is designed to provide a fun and safe environment, teach the game of soccer, promote social interaction, and teach team concepts. Soccer develops individual skills and teamwork and is vigorous and continuous exercise for the young athlete. Soccer jersey is included in fee. Each participant must supply their own shin guards, with soccer spikes recommended but not required. The league is for recreational soccer players. We are always looking for volunteer coaches. Older divisions may be co-ed depending on enrollment. Rain dates are Sunday's. Registration deadline is Friday, July 24.

Swim Lessons
This program is designed for children of all ages and abilities. Students work toward the development of five core swim competencies. A
s they progress, they will be one step closer in becoming a profecient swimmer. The levels are used to divide students into broad ability groups. Children progress at individual rates with the opportunity to learn the core swimming skills and progress to advanced strokes. Learning is self-paced but challenging. Please read the level descriptions and sign up your student for the lowest level that teaches the skill your child needs assistance in. If inclement weather cancels a lesson Monday thru Thursday, a make-up will be offered at the same time on Friday of that week. In the event of swim lesson cancellations, the coordinator will do their best to contact participants via email. We make every effort to hold lessons.
Please have your child come with a swimsuit, towel, goggles, and a swim diaper if necessary. The swim lesson coordinator holds the right to switch swimmers into the appropriate level if they do not meet the pre-requisite skills.
LEVEL 1- Ages 5 & Up
Pre-requisite: None, Ratio 1:6. This level is designed to adjust children to the water. This level will create a safe and fun environment for students to feel comfortable and excited to be in the water. Skills taught include: bubbles, bobs, submerge face in water, safe water entry & exit, and water safety. If the student is afraid of water, can not swim at all, and will not get their face wet, sign up for this level.

Pre-requisite: Pass Level 2, Ratio: 1:6. This class is designed to teach forward movement and direction change. The flutter kick combined with front and back floats will be perfected. Front crawl and back stroke arm movements and rotary breathing will be introduced. If the student can swim under water or on the surface, can get the occasional breath, and is not afraid, sign up for this level.

LEVEL 4- Ages 6 & Up
Pre-requisite: Pass Level 3, Ratio 1:6. This class is designed to teach and perfect body rotation and arm movements for the front crawl and back stroke. This level will continue to combine floating, kicking, arm movements and breathing. Elementary back stroke will be introduced. On the completion of level 4, students will be able to swim the width of the pool. The beginning techniques of treading water will also be introduced. If the student can independently maintain a front and back float for 10 seconds, has the basic arm and head rotation, and can tread water for at least 15 seconds, sign up for this level.

Pre-requisite: Pass Level 4, Ratio 1:6. This class is designed to integrate body movement and begin stroke development. Rotary breathing will be refined, and students will begin to swim front crawl and back stroke the length of the pool. The beginning techniques of diving and breaststrokes will also be introduced. If the student can swim front crawl and back stroke for the width of the pool, sign them up for this level.

PRESCHOOL SWIM- Ages 3-5
Pre-requisite: None, Ratio 1:4. This class is designed to meet the needs of preschoolers. This class will develop a high comfort in the water, a readiness to swim, and for those children who are developmentally ready, teach beginning swim skills. This class will provide a variety of ways to have fun in the water through games and songs while in a safe environment. This is an independent class; therefore no parent or caregiver should plan on being in the water.

PRIVATE LESSONS- All Ages
If you are looking for 1 on 1 swim instruction, the Niles Park Lifeguards are available for private sessions. The lesson coordinator will arrange days and times. Upon registering, please email [email protected] with times and days you are looking to schedule, and you will be assigned an instructor. Lessons will run 30 minutes.
Cancellation Policy: Cancellations must be made at least 24 hours before the scheduled lesson in writing to the email [email protected] to receive a make-up lesson or credit. Late cancellations (less than 24 hours) and no-shows will be charged the full lesson fee and are not eligible for a make-up or refund. If an instructor cancels due to illness, weather, or facility issues, the lesson will be rescheduled or credited. Late arrivals will still end at the originally scheduled time.
Volleyball- Adult
Adult Co-Ed Volleyball League- Register by team only!
Ages 18 & Over
This league is for those looking to play recreational volleyball. This will be a minimum 4 team league. Teams will consist of 6 players on the court at once. Teams must have at least 3 women on the court during play. 8 game guaranteed season with playoffs. Registration deadline is May 22. All teams must register with Ryan Webb, [email protected] .

Baseball- Fall Youth League

Players will sign up for the league based on their grade for the 2026-2027 season. For the 1st/2nd Grade league, teams will be slotted into two divisions based on grades. For the 3rd/4th, 5th/6th and 7th/8th Grade divisions, teams will be slotted into the Majors or Minors divisions as determined by the Athletic Department. Each player will receive a jersey and hat which must be worn to all games. Sign up as a team or as an individual player. Your schedule will consist of at least 8 games. Registration deadline is Friday, July 10.

Total Player Skill Development
With focus on whole player development, skills to be taught will include ball handling, shooting, attacking the basket, footwork/foot speed, screening and passing. Players will learn and become familiar with necessary offensive and defensive skills and concepts to advance their overall game.

Better Shooting and Defensive Skill Development is a clinic where players will focus on proper shooting mindset, mechanics, and techniques, while learning and developing defensive principals, concepts, and positioning. 3x3 Basketball Camp
The 3x3 Basketball Camp will provide an opportunity for players to improve their shooting and scoring by focusing on individual skill development and implementing those skills in a 3 on 3 setting. The camp emphasizes the critical elements to spacing, movement and decision making, while working on 3 on 3 defensive concepts. These small-sided games are a great way to learn and help develop basketball IQ early as well as how to move with and without the ball.

5 on 5 Basketball Camp
This 5 on 5 Basketball Camp is designed to develop and improve the player's fundamental understanding of 5 on 5 basketball. Drills may be inserted between games as needed to teach in-game skills. Will additionally focus on understanding and executing simple offensive strategies, including passing and cutting, ball movement, working together, unselfish play, setting good screens. Fundamental 5 on 5 team defense, some principals, defensive skills and strategies. Individual and team rebounding and basketball IQ. Players will be organized by grade and/or skill level.
