Boys & Girls Grade 4-7 (As of 2023-2024 school year)

We will develop fundamental volleyball skills while learning teamwork, strategy, and sportsmanship.  Skills taught include serving, passing, setting, hitting, and the rules of the game.  Scoring, serving, competition modifications are made as needed by group.  The focus of the class is to have fun, meet new friends and play volleyball.  All participants will receive a t-shirt.  Max of 36 per class.

Register at Niles Park District for karate classes.  Illinois Shotokan Karate Club is Chicagoland's premier school taught under the instruction of John DiPasquale, a four-time Natonal Champion and President of the American Shotokan Association.

Beginner students will not be permitted to register into the current session after the second class has met.  Registration for continuers through advanced students will be accepted after the start date, but the full class fee is required. Uniform and belt testing are options available through the ISKC instructor.  Please note that the Youth and Adult classes may train together.

PRE-KARATE (Boys & Girls Ages 4-6)

Young children develop flexibility, strength and coordination in fun, yet disciplined activities.  This program is specifically designed for growing minds and bodies to enhance memory and agility.  Watch your child's confidence blossom and their skills improve.  Class limit is 6.  11 weeks.

YOUTH & ADULT KARATE (Boys & Girls Ages 7 & Up)

ISKC's Karate classes offer a good mix of strength training with cardiovascular and flexibility exercises.  Students increase their coordination, agility and poise, as well as learn lasting personal safety skills.  They also benefit from the mental stimulation of learning the choreographed moves of the kata and the discipline of conforming toi the class rules.  Class limit is 10.  11 weeks.

Our Adult classes release tension, develop total body fitness, and build stamina and overall productivity.  In addition to self defense skills, karate increases flexibility, cardiovascular endurance, and muscle tone, while improving core strength.  Class limit is 10.  11 weeks.

Niles Park District offers private piano lessons.  Children and adults with all levels of experience are welcome and no prior instruction in piano or music is required.  Lessons will focus on the fundamentals of technique, music theory, and good practice habits. In addition, students may need to purchase their own instruction books and music.  Refunds will not be granted for missed lessons.

Time:  Lessons are 30 minutes

Instructor, Vicky Ostwald:  Vicky Ostwald has a degree in piano and also studied piano pedagogy at the graduate level.  She has many years of playing and teaching experience.  Vicky enjoys working with all levels and all kinds of students, especially children and also adults.  If you have a special interest such as learning to play by ear, this can be incorporated into the lesson time.

Instructor, Tom Slater:  Tom Slater has been playing and studying the piano for over 30 years.  He studied music at Cleveland State University and has a background in classical, jazz and pop music.  He is currently a multi-instrumentalist in several local bands and he has been featured on the WGN Morning News, WXRT and NPR.  Tom's main goals are to help his students develop and maintain good practice habits, learn music theory and get the most enjoyment and fulfillment you can from playing music.

Instructor, Jeanne Hanline:  Jeanne Hanline has studied music and given private piano lessons for over 35 years focusing on teaching children and adults to read music and enjoy the accomplishment of sitting down to play this amazing instrument.  Teaching traditional methods of classical and popular music are the results she hopes to give to her students.  She has played various venues for private affairs and church functions.  Patience, practice and enjoyment are the main goals.

YOUTH SUMMER BASKETBALL LEAGUE- Boys & Girls Grade 2-8

Sign up as a team or individual for the grade you will be entering in the Fall of 2024.  All teams will play 10 games.  Some grade levels may be combined depending on enrollment.  The 2-3 grade leagues play on mini courts on lowered rims.  The 4-9 grade leagues play on full courts with 10-foot rims.  Practice time is limited throughout the season and scheduled at the coach's discretion and gym availability.  Volunteer coaches are needed and we are very accommodating with your schedule.  Registration deadline is May 20.

Game Time:  Weekends 10:00 am-8:00 pm, Weeknights 4:30-10:00 pm

HIGH SCHOOL BASKETBALL LEAGUE

Freshman, Sophomore & Varsity Divisions
Our High School Basketball League is for those boys and girls who want to play competitive basketball in an organized setting.  All players will receive a team t-shirt and play 8 games.  A parent is required to be present and on the bench at all times.  Registration is done by team only.  Registration deadline is May 17.  Class of 2024 Seniors are not allowed to play.

Location:  LoVerde Sports & Rec Center, Golf View and Grennan Heights

Fall Soccer League
Boys & Girls Grade Pre-K-8 (for the 2024-2025 school year)

The program is designed to provide a fun and safe environment, teach the game of soccer, promote social interaction, and teach team concepts.  Soccer develops individual skills and teamwork and is vigorous and continuous exercise for the young athlete.  Soccer jersey is included in fee.  Each participant must supply their own shin guards, with soccer spikes recommended but not required.  The league is for recreational soccer players.  We are always looking for volunteer coaches.  Older divisions may be co-ed depending on enrollment.  Rain dates are Sunday's.  Registration deadline is July 26.

GIRL'S SOFTBALL- FALL LEAGUE

We are offering 4 Girls Softball Leagues this Fall- Grade 7 & 8, Grade 5 & 6, Grade 3 & 4, Grade 1 & 2.  Games will be played on Saturdays and Sundays.  Each girl will receive a jersey and visor.  You can sign up as a team or individual.  Your season will consist of at least 8 games.  Grade 5 & 6 and Grade 7 & 8 leagues will be divided into Travel and House divisions if enough teams register.  Registration deadline is July 12.  Sign up as of the 2024-2025 school year.
