Programs - Summer

Register at Niles Park District for karate classes. Children and adults universally enjoy learning the art of karate.  Classes are taught by Illinois Shotokan Karate Club’s expert instructors under the direction of John DiPasquale, four-time National Champion, U.S. Karate National Coach and President of the National Karate Federation of the U.S. 

 

Beginner students will not be permitted to register into the current session after the second class has met.  Registration for continuers through advanced students will be accepted after the start date, but the full class fee is required.  Uniform and belt testing are options available through the ISKC instructor.  Please note that the Youth, Parent/Child, and Adult classes may train together.

 

Location: National Park Fieldhouse, 9325 Marion (Beckwith & Harlem), Morton Grove.  No class July 4.

 

PRE-KARATE (Boys & Girls Ages 4-7)

Young children develop flexibility, strength and coordination in fun, yet disciplined activities.  The program is specifically designed for growing minds and bodies to enhance memory and agility.  Watch your child's confidence blossom and their skills improve.

YOUTH KARATE (Boys & Girls Ages 7-14)

ISKC's Youth Karate classes put children in touch with their bodies and offers a good mix of strength training, with cardiovascular and flexibility exercises.  Children increase their coordination, agility and poise, as well as learn lasting personal safety skills.  They also benefit from the mental stimulation of learning the choreographed moves of the kata and the discipline of conforming to the class rules

Splish Splash Pool Party at Oasis Fun Center

Party Fee Includes:
- Admission to Oasis Fun Center, including Spray Pad, Drop Slide, Water Slide and Diving Boards.
- Use of Oasis Fun Center room for 2 hours.
- Lunch (pizza or hot dog, chips & soda)
- Park District staff member to help your party run smoothly.
- Wrist bands will be provided to all guests.

Lockers

Coin-operated lockers are available at Oasis Fun Center for a cost of $.25.  The use of the lockers is encouraged. Niles Park District does not assume responsibility for lost or damaged articles.

 

Safety First

Niles Park District is very proud of its aquatic safety record.  Last year the Aquatic Staff received two perfect 5-Star Awards for Safety!  All lifeguards are trained through the Starfish Aquatics Institute.  Starfish provides an exhaustive course, which mandates professionalism as well as technical expertise. During our swimming season, we are audited three times by these safety experts.

 

Open Swim Pool Guidelines

These guidelines are a combination of Niles Park District rules and those required by the Department of Health. They are enforced for the health and safety of our pool patrons. 

*        Lifeguards are here to insure the safety of pool patrons with the help of parents.  In addition, parents are responsible to know the whereabouts of their children and to keep their children 5 & Under within arms reach.

   Children of the opposite sex and over the age of 5 are not permitted in the locker rooms.  Please use the family locker rooms.

*        No glass containers or coolers of any kind allowed.  Oudside food and/or beverages are prohibited in the Fun Center.  Concession stand is available at Oasis Fun Center.

*        Every person must wear a swimsuit with lining.  No cutoffs, mesh shorts without lining, leotards, thongs or work out clothes are allowed.

*        Smoking is prohibited in the locker rooms, on deck and in the concession area.

*        Season passes are issued to a specific person and may not be transferred.

*        Children under 10 years of age must be accompanied by an adult (18 years & over).

*        Children 2 and under are free & must wear tight-fitting plastic pants and/or swim diapers.

*        Life jackets, rafts, inflatable swimming devices, diving masks, snorkles, kickboards, noodles, diving rings, and balls of any kind are not allowed during open swim.

*        Street shoes are not allowed on the pool deck.

*        Strollers are prohibited on deck.  Baby carriers and car seats are allowed.

*        Individuals with disabilities needing wheelchairs on deck or floatation devices in the water will be accommodated.

*       Every person must shower before entering the pool deck, during open swim hours.

*    You must be at least 48" tall in order to ride 2 of the slides.

Additional pool rules and regulations may be enforced with the discretion of pool managers/supervisors.

 

Pool Closing Policy

At the discretion of the Aquatic Supervisor and pool managers, the pool may be closed for the following reasons:

*        Inclement weather - When the temperature or storms threaten safety.  No refunds or rain checks will be issued in the event of closing due to inclement weather.

*      Management reserves the right to close due to lack of patrons.

*        Safety hazards - When a situation arises that would jeopardize the public health of the people in attendance.

*        Special event - A Park District scheduled event.

 

Re-Opening Policy

If Oasis Fun Center is closed due to inclement weather early in the day, it will be re-evaluated in the afternoon.  At that time a decision will be made whether to re-open the pool or to stay closed for the remainder of the day.  Our pool office will be able to keep you updated on inclement weather conditions.  No refunds due to inclement weather.


 

Magic Workshop
Ages 5-12
Children are guaranteed to have a great time as they learn a collection of fascinating and mesmerizing tricks from the "Magic Team of Gary Kantor"! Amaze family and friends with tricks that involve cards, ropes, coins, mind-reading, and more. All materials are provided, and each child receives a magic kit to take home. YOUTH SUMMER BASKETBALL LEAGUE

Boys & Girls Grades 1-9 (as of the 2018-19 school year)
Come join us for Summer basketball fun! This is a great program for continued fun and progress.  Your schedule will consist of 10 games, no playoffs.  Grade levels may be combined depending on the number of teams enrolled.  For additional information, call Athletics at (847) 967-1529.  Niles Park District has the right to add players on any team with less than 10 players.  Coach packet is available online & at facilities.  Fee includes new reversible sleeveless jersey.  Registration Deadline is June 1.

Ladies Beginners:  This class is for players with little or no tennis experience and will focus on the fundamentals of strokes, grips, and technique.
Mixed Beginners:  This co-ed class is for players with little or no tennis experience and will focus on basic skills including backhand and forehand ground-strokes, serves, and keeping score.
Mixed Advanced Beginners:  A co-ed class for players who have already developed some fundamental tennis skills and can keep the ball in play with some consistency. Designed for players who are ready to learn volleys, strategy and shot placement, and are comfortable keeping score.
Mixed Intermediate Drill and Play:  A co-ed class for players ready to play matches at a competitive level and who have already mastered ground strokes, volleys and serves with some dependability. The focus will be on improving court coverage and strategy while working on shot making and ball placement.

Challengers & Champions:  Players who continue to develop and are wishing to play tournaments, as well as on their High School team.

Quick Starters:  Ages 5-7, 8-12:   Players who are just starting tennis.

Hot Shots:  Ages 5-7, 8-12:  Players who have little experience with the game and still developing.

Future Stars 3:  Players starting to rally and have knowledge of the rules of tennis.

Future Stars Plus 3.5:  Players who have consistence with ground strokes and moving towards tournament experience.

 


 

Tennis Membership Requirements & Privileges:

  • Membership is required for all regularly scheduled private lessons, permanent court time, team and league play.  Non-members may sign up for private instruction and open court time on a day before stand-by basis only.
  • Members will have priority in group lesson registration, as well as advance reservation privileges of open court time.
  • Members will receive discounted group and private lesson rates year round.
  • Members will receive discounted court time fees.
  • Members receive free daytime childcare.  Non-members have a fee of $7.00/child for max of 2 hours.  For safety reasons, childcare must be reserved in advance.  Space is limited.

Tennis Policies & Procedures:

  • You must complete and sign a membership application and submit payment for Niles Park District to process the membership.  A photo ID card will be issued for your use when visiting Tam Tennis Club.
  • Senior memberships are for all members 62 years or older.  An authentic proof of age and residency must be presented.
  • Junior memberships, boys and girls under 17, require the consent signature of a parent or supervising adult.
  • Additional family members must join at the same time to receive family rates.  Proof of household status will be required at initial sign up.
  • All memberships are renewable annually.
  • Membership is not transferable or assignable.
  • Memberships will not be refunded after purchase.
  • Resident rates are for all Niles Park District residents only.
  • All memberships can be renewed at the Howard Leisure Center, 6676 W. Howard Street.

Returning Fall teams from last year will have until July 29 to secure their spot.  All new teams can turn in their application and fee prior to July 29 and they will be accepted into the league in the order they have turned in their application and fee as last year's spots open up.  The deadline for all applications & fee's is Friday August 3.

R-Gang

Specializing in Motown/R&B, R-Gang is comprised of highly respected members of Chicagoland's musical community, with backgrounds as diverse as the band members themselves. From playing with such nationally known artists as Survivor, to writing and recording for groups like The Doobie Bros. & Marvin Staples, to performing as an on-field band for the Chicago Bears and pre-game entertainment for the Chicago Bulls, the musicians in R-Gang hold years of experience between them. Come on out and enjoy the first concert of the season!

 

Soda & Vehicle Adventure

What's your flavor? Because you'll get the best of everything with Soda. From the Zac Brown Band to Cee Lo Green, and Darius Rucker, this band can do it all. Three lead singers, each with distinctive styles, work to bring authenticity to all your favorite songs. And the possibilities are endless. Classic rock, 80s, new wave, reggae, alternative–the list goes on and on. While listening to Soda children can explore and sit in one of the many Niles Park District and Village of Niles large vehicles! A fun night for all ages!

 

Hillbilly Rock Starz & Penny Carnival

Hillbilly Rockstarz are Chicago's very own country super group specializing in covering the latest hits in country music including some of everyone's classic favorites! Every show is guaranteed good time's...Hillbilly style! A live performance by the Hillbillyz is an experience y'all won't soon forget. Not only do they cover the best country songs heard on radio today, but they can also mix in some cool rock tunes too, satisfying everyone's tastes. This band will always leave y'all wantin' for more! Kids don't forget your pennies tonight to win prizes at the ever popular penny carnival. Children will enjoy playing games created by our very own summer campers!

 

Final Say & Kids Face Painting Night

Final Say musical repertoire extends from the beginning of rock & roll, through today's hit music. Whether it is alternative, classic rock, soul, Motown, New Wave, Big Hair Rock, R&B, the 60's, 70's, 80's, or 90's! Enjoy a night out enjoying the music of Final Say! Face painting for kids will be a hit while Final Say performs!

 

Spoken Four & Ponies, Petting Farm, Hay Rides

Friday, August 3: 6:30-8:30 pm

Spoken Four performs high energy party covers spanning the 60's through today's Top 40. You will hear everything from the Jackson 5 to Maroon 5. The show is family oriented and designed for the short attention span with tons of mashups and non-stop excitement. Throughout the years, Spoken Four has performed across the globe including Barcelona, Istanbul and Cabo San Lucas for corporate and private events. They are one of the most professional and trusted bands on the circuit.

 

Blooze Brothers

Friday, August 10: 6:30-8:30 pm

Those wacky (but soulful) Blooze Brothers are on the loose again! This high powered choreographed 12-piece show band covers Motown, R&B, soul, current favorites and of course the music and crazy antics of the famous original Blues Brothers. Don't miss out on this fun show and for our last concert of summer!!
