Dear Residents,

We hope you had a great fall and were able to enjoy the beautiful fall colors. With the cold, snow and a new year almost here we hope you were able to enjoy the Niles Park District in 2019. Maybe through a walk, a run or bike ride around one of our beautiful parks, attending one of our fun special events, or participating in a program. We still have a few great programs and special events for you to enjoy before the year ends.

Join us for all of our holiday special events in December. Santa will be making a special visit to the Niles Park District on December 7. Children will enjoy a delicious breakfast while visiting with Santa. Also, don’t forget to include the Iceland Santa Skate and the Holiday Gingerbread House decoration as part of your child’s holiday fun. Children can keep busy over the school holiday break with our Winter Break Camp at the Oasis Fun Center for children ages 5-12. Each day will be a different adventure and your child will be sure to have a great time.

As we look ahead into the New Year our annual Little Ladies Dance will be held on February 7 at Oasis Fun Center. This great event is for little ladies 3-12 years old that want to share a dance with their dad, grandpa, uncle or a friend. Right after that dance it’s time for the little gentleman’s dance for young men ages 3-12 that are ready to dance the night away with their moms, grandmas, aunts or friends. Each dance will have dinner, dancing, games, and fun so be ready to bring your dancing shoes.

Celebrate spring’s arrival and join us at the annual Spring Egg Scramble held at Grennan Heights on April 4. Kids won’t want to miss the appearance of the Easter Bunny at the Oasis Fun Center. Hop on over and enjoy a breakfast buffet and have your picture taken with the Easter Bunny.

We are happy to announce that we have updated two playgrounds this past fall. Oak Park and Jonquil Park received brand new playground equipment. When the spring weather arrives please stop by one of these parks to check out the new equipment. Finally, we are renovating the Howard Leisure Center. This project will include new bathrooms, updated banquet facility, updated lobby, and new preschool rooms. We will keep you updated on the progress of the renovation once it begins in January.

As you explore the Winter/Spring Guide we hope that you’ll find activities that will be of interest to you. If you have a program idea or would like to see a new offering please reach out and let me know. You can always contact me with any comments or suggestions at 847-967-6633 or e-mail me at tome@niles-parks.org. On behalf of the Niles Park District we wish you a very safe and healthy holiday season.
